Postpartum Wellness Checkup
At Merriman Pelvic Health, we believe that all women deserve a check-up after having a baby, regardless of pain or any pelvic health issues. You just went through the biggest physiological event of your life and you deserve a “check-in: with your body before getting on with life.
If you are 6+ weeks postpartum and are eager to return to exercise, but unsure of what is safe or appropriate for you right now, this is the visit for you.
In this 1 hour session, we will screen your body after baby and specifically the parts of your body that are most affected by pregnancy and childbirth.
In the checkup, we will assess your:
Pelvic floor muscle strength, endurance and coordination, and screen for pelvic organ prolapse
Pelvic floor muscle tension and screen for scar tissue due to perineal tearing
Abdominal strength and screen for abdominal separation (Diastasis Rectus Abdominis)
Based on your exercise goals and current baseline, we will develop a program to start you back to doing what you love.
Common Conditions We Treat
Urinary Incontinence: “I leak when I laugh, cough, sneeze, or have a strong urge to urinate.”
Pelvic Organ Prolapse: “I feel heaviness or pressure at my vaginal opening.”
Dyspareunia: “Sex is painful” (Postpartum, perineal tears, muscle spasms, and hormone changes commonly contribute to this.)
Diastasis Rectus Abdominus: “My core feels weak and I notice doming along my midline.”
Neck pain, Low back pain, tailbone pain.
Sacroiliac pain: My “very low back” hurts, especially if I stand on one leg or bend forward.
“I can't say enough good things about Claire - she is fantastic! She is kind, understanding, and a talented therapist. I contacted her because I was experiencing some issues after giving birth to my first child, some of which I struggled with before birth. I've worked with pelvic floor therapists in the past and didn't have nearly as much progress as I did with Claire. Thank you so much!”
