Pregnancy Services
We offer both pelvic health physical therapy during pregnancy as well as a personalized birth preparation session.
Prenatal Pelvic PT
If you are pregnant and experiencing low back, pelvic pain, urinary leakage, urgency, heaviness, or constipation, don't despair! There is a lot that we can do as physical therapists to improve your symptoms while you are pregnant. You will work one-on-one with a certified pelvic health physical therapist, using a combination of manual therapy and targeted strengthening to get you feeling great and moving better.
For all pregnant patients, we require clearance from your OB or midwife to perform an internal exam. Please have them sign this form prior to your first appointment.
Prep Your Body for Birth Session
An 80 minute personalized session to help you prepare your pelvic floor for labor and childbirth. This is designed in collaboration with midwives and doulas to give women the tools to regulate their nervous system, employ breath mechanics and utilize pelvic floor lengthening to let their body do what it already knows how to do. Session will be structured around your birth preferences and goals.
You will learn:
How to push to reduce stress on you and the baby and decrease perineal tearing.
How to use your breath to relax and lengthen your pelvic floor muscles during labor (with internal cueing if cleared by OB/Midwife).
Pre-labor stretches to support opening of pelvic inlet and outlet based on any muscle tension found during assessment.
How to perform perineal massage to prepare your tissues for labor and reduce severity of perineal tearing.
*Appropriate for women in their third trimester of pregnancy.
For all pregnant patients, we require clearance from your OB or midwife to perform an internal exam. Please have them sign this form prior to your first appointment.
“I’m thankful I was able to establish a relationship with Claire prenatally. She is kind, professional, informative and clearly invested in her clients’ care. I would recommend her prep for birth session for expecting mamas. One of the breathing techniques I learned was extremely helpful for giving birth without pain medication.”
